An oil-immersed transformer is a transformer that uses insulating oil as both an insulating medium and a cooling medium. It consists of a core, windings, insulating materials, insulating oil, tap switch, tank, oil reservoir, cooling device, insulating bushing, gas relay, etc. Low-voltage windings of oil-immersed transformers generally use copper foil for winding, except for small capacities that use copper wire; high-voltage windings adopt a multi-layer cylindrical structure, making the ampere-turn distribution of the windings balanced, with small leakage magnetic flux, high mechanical strength, and strong short-circuit resistance; the transformer body uses a vacuum drying process; vacuum oil filtration and oil injection are used for the transformer oil to reduce the moisture inside the transformer to a very low level, greatly improving the insulation strength of the transformer body.
Oil-immersed transformers have the following advantages:
Excellent insulation performance: Insulating oil has high dielectric strength and low dielectric loss, effectively preventing electrical equipment from malfunctioning.
Good cooling performance: The insulating oil can circulate inside the transformer, carrying away the heat generated during the transformer's operation and maintaining the normal operating temperature of the transformer.
Low noise level: Due to the buffering effect of the insulating oil and the shielding effect of the tank, the noise level of oil-immersed transformers is relatively low.
Long lifespan and reliability: Reasonable design and maintenance measures can extend the service life of the transformer and improve its reliability.
